Used The SD-9 holds two sets of four AA sized batteries ensuring a stable power supply for the SB-900, SB-910 and SB-5000. This benefit is an increase in the number of flashes and reduced recycling time.
The Speedlight is fitted with four batteries as normal to power the Speedlight's electronics (LCD, zoom head etc). The SD-9 has a 3 pin cable that plugs into the front of the Speedlight. Based on the SB-900 without Battery Pack the min number of flashes is 110 which increases to 450 with the SD-9 loaded with 8x Alkaline LR-6 batteries
